Brioche knitting creates a ridiculously soft, springy fabric with incredible stitch definition. Two-color brioche is especially stunning! If you’ve always wanted to tackle this technique but couldn’t quite master it on your own, this hands-on workshop is for you.

Choose your project Gina’s 2- Color Brioche Hat or Cowl

If you have done brioche before you may like to try the Purl Soho 2 color brioche without a rolled edge and a set up row inested.

Materials Needed:

2 Contrasting Colors of Worsted Weight Yarn – This is a good way to use the wool you dyed during the May workshop.

• Hat: 1 ball of each color
• Cowl: 2 balls of each color
• Tips: Choose a bouncy, springy wool with good grip (e.g., Cascade 220 Superwash or Berroco Ultra Wool). Tonal/solid paired with variegated yarn works beautifully!

Needles: Circular needles to match the pattern gauge and double pointed needles in the same size.

Homework for Purl Soho’s Gina’s 2-Color Brioche Hat and Cowl

For the Hat:

Cast on 88 stiches using Yarn A with a basic Long Tail Cast On, place a marker, and join in the round (taking care not to twist). Knit 5 rows.

For the Cowl:

Cast on 218 stiches using Yarn A with a basic Long Tail Cast On, place a marker, and join in the round (taking care not to twist). Knit 5 rows
